Court approves 12-day custody for Durga Prasai

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to detain Durga Prasai and his bodyguard, Deepak Khadka, for 12 days to facilitate further investigation.

The decision was made by a bench led by Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal, allowing the police to keep them in custody during the probe.

Prasai is identified as the leader of the violent pro-monarchy protest that took place in Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28. He had been on the run since the incident.

On Thursday, Prasai was apprehended by the Assam Police in India. He was brought to the Nepal-India border at Kakadbhitta on Friday and handed over to Nepal Police.

He was then flown from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu and presented before the court.
