KATHMANDU: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has provided Rs 25 million in financial assistance for the rescue and relief of citizens affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers in Rasuwa on August 26.
The EPF deposited the amount into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund under its corporate social responsibility initiative.
EPF Board Chairman Bhupal Baral, Administrator Bijay Kumar Shrestha and other senior officials handed over a cheque for Rs 25 million to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at a program held at the Ministry of Finance.
Speaking at the cheque handover ceremony, Finance Minister Wagle expressed gratitude to the EPF and its employees for their support during the disaster.
Chairman Baral said the EPF has been providing financial assistance under its corporate social responsibility initiatives during national crises, including natural disasters, major earthquakes and epidemics. He said the latest contribution was made to support the rescue and relief efforts for those affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers.
Similarly, Administrator Shrestha said the support and cooperation of all stakeholders are essential for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of affected citizens during the disaster.
He pledged that the EPF would continue to provide necessary support and cooperation during disasters and other national crises as part of its social responsibility.
The EPF also expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the floods and landslides. It called on all concerned to extend the necessary support and cooperation to ensure the swift rescue, relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the floods.
