KATHMANDU: Durga Prasai, a medical entrepreneur and prominent supporter of Nepal’s pro-monarchy movement, has turned himself in to police in Assam, India.
He had been out of contact since the pro-monarchy demonstration in Kathmandu on March 28.
Family sources say Prasai surrendered just as Indian authorities were preparing to detain him at Nepal’s request.
He is expected to be handed over to Nepali officials at the Kakarbhitta border crossing in the east.
Prior to this, Prasai had released videos claiming his life was in danger and had promised to make a public appearance within 24 hours.
