Nepal announces squad for four-nation T20I tournament in Hong Kong

KATHMANDU:  The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has revealed the final squad for the Nepali national cricket team for the upcoming four-nation T20 International tournament in Hong Kong from April 9 to 13.

The 14-member squad, led by captain Rohit Poudel, also includes Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sompal Kami, Lalit Rajbanshi, Kushal Malla, Karan K.C., Bashir Ahmed, Shahab Alam, Nandan Yadav, Rijan Dhakal, Gulshan Kumar Jha, and Lokesh Bam.

Nandan Yadav is making his debut in the national team, while Bashir Ahmed and Shahab Alam are returning to the T20I squad after a hiatus since 2022.

The tournament will feature Nepal, Hong Kong, Kuwait, and Qatar. Each team will play once against every other team, with the top two advancing to the final. This event also serves as crucial preparation for Nepal ahead of the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Notably, Sandeep Lamichhane and Anil Sah are absent from the squad. Lamichhane is recovering from surgery, while Sah is sidelined due to injury.

Even though Stuart Law had been appointed as Nepal’s new head coach, former captain Gyanendra Malla will coach the team this series.
