SAFF U-19 Championship schedule announced, Nepal to face Sri Lanka in opener

KATHMANDU: The schedule for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Championship football tournament has been announced. The tournament will be held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal Pradesh, India, from May 9 to 18.

Nepal, placed in Group ‘B’ of the tournament, will play its first match against Sri Lanka on May 11. On the same day, Bhutan and Bangladesh will also compete in another group match.

Group ‘B’ consists of Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka, while Group ‘A’ features defending champions Bangladesh, Maldives, and Bhutan.

Nepal’s second match will be against host team India on May 13. On the same day, Maldives and Bhutan will also clash in Group ‘A’.

The tournament will kick off with the opening match between Bangladesh and Maldives, followed by a match between Sri Lanka and India. The championship promises exciting encounters as six South Asian nations battle for the title.
