Ministry of Urban Development reports Rs 12.24 billion expenditure in current fiscal year

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Urban Development has spent Rs 12.24 billion, or 17.93% of its total budget, in the current fiscal year.

The ministry, which has an allocated budget of Rs 91.35 billion, made this announcement during a press conference held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

According to Narayan Prasad Mainali, spokesperson for the ministry, a total of 3,716 new programs were planned for this fiscal year, out of which bids were invited for 1,623 programs.

Contracts have been signed for 1,098 of these programs, and 124 programs have already been completed. However, 2,093 programs are still pending, with 288 proposed for multi-year approval and 80 for revision.

The ministry also provided an update on infrastructure development.

So far, 8.6 km of rural blacktop roads have been constructed in the districts of Jhapa, Rolpa, and Parbat, against a target of 100 km for the year. In addition, five local road bridges have been completed, out of a target of 30, and 162 suspension bridges have been finished, with a target of 330 for the fiscal year.
