Home Minister Lekhak invites ‘No Cable Car’ group for talks



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has invited the ‘No Cable Car’ group, which is protesting the construction of the cable car in Pathibhara, Taplejung, to engage in talks.

Responding to queries from lawmakers during Sunday’s National Assembly session, Minister Lekhak emphasized that the government is taking the concerns raised by the ‘No Cable Car’ group seriously and urged them to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

He also assured that the government is open to resolving the issues surrounding the cable car project through dialogue and discussions.

Furthermore, Minister Lekhak reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the country, ensuring that the public feels secure.

Regarding the death of 17-year-old Rinku Kumari Saday from Bhagwatipur, Nawarajpur Rural Municipality-1, Siraha, he assured that the police are conducting a serious investigation into the incident and promised action against those responsible.

Minister Lekhak also expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Neha Rauniyar and Satyendra Ram from Barhathawa, Sarlahi, who faced challenges after a love marriage.

He stressed that the government is actively working to implement anti-discrimination rights.

He also mentioned that several bills are currently under discussion in the House, and ongoing policy and legal reforms are being addressed.

On the topic of post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction, the Minister acknowledged that while progress has been slower than expected due to limited resources, efforts are being made with the available resources and the support of all stakeholders.
