KATHMANDU: Marie Stopes International Nepal and the Rotary Club of Kathmandu have jointly organized a cervical cancer screening camp, promoting early detection and prevention within the community.
The integrated health camp, held at Gahana Pokhari in Kathmandu and organized by Trishakti Yuwa Club, provided cervical cancer screening using the Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) test, along with other gynecological checkups facilitated by Sunaulo Pariwar Nepal, an implementing partner of Marie Stopes International.
The Rotary Club of Kathmandu sponsored the cervical cancer screening, while Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology offered eye checkups, and Green City Hospital conducted kidney and basic health screenings.
Minister of Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the government’s commitment to accessible healthcare services.
During the camp, 90 women were screened for cervical cancer, with six testing positive. Those who tested positive were counseled and referred to Marie Stopes Centre Putalisadak and other specialized facilities for further treatment.
