BIRGUNJ: Goods worth Rs 40.34 billion have been exported through the Birgunj customs checkpoint in Parsa during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, nearly doubling compared to the same period last fiscal year when exports were valued at Rs 17.79 billion.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, this checkpoint accounted for 31.72% of Nepal’s total exports among the country’s 28 customs checkpoints. Information Officer Amit Tiwari attributed the increase to a surge in exports of processed sunflower and soybean oil.
Processed soybean oil led the export list, totaling Rs 19.36 billion, followed by processed sunflower oil at Rs 4.63 billion.
Other major exports included fruit juice worth Rs 3.96 billion, iron and iron products worth Rs 3.12 billion, synthetic yarn worth Rs 1.60 billion, and fabrics worth Rs 1.47 billion.
Additionally, raw materials for animal feed, including rice bran and chaff, valued at Rs 1.22 billion, were also exported.
