KATHMANDU: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 94.52 billion in revenue over the first seven months of the current fiscal year, exceeding last year’s collection by Rs 7.95 billion.

The increase is attributed to a rise in the import of industrial raw materials and petroleum products, according to Amit Tiwari, the office’s information officer.

Although the revenue collection surpassed the previous year’s figures, it fell short of the targeted Rs 121.81 billion for the period. The government has set an annual target of Rs 218.95 billion for the customs office.

Monthly collections were recorded as follows: Rs 12.15 billion in Shrawan, Rs 13.42 billion in Bhadra, and Rs 13.47 billion in Asoj. Tiwari noted that revenue collection has been on an upward trend for the past two months.
