People are the ultimate source of state power: President

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed confidence that democracy will strengthen national unity while promoting social justice, equality, social goodwill, and prosperity.

In his message on the occasion of National Democracy Day 2081 BS, the President emphasized that this day signifies the establishment of the belief that the people are the ultimate source of state power.

The President described the day as a proud and historic moment for Nepal, as it marked the realization of people’s sovereignty through the struggles and sacrifices of the martyrs.

He also noted that the establishment of the federal democratic republic was a major achievement resulting from more than seven decades of struggle.

“We have succeeded in establishing a federal democratic republic, built on the foundation of the revolution of 2007 BS,” said the President.

Furthermore, President Paudel reflected on Nepal’s Constitution, which aims to create a socialism-oriented economy based on justice and equality, within the framework of the federal democratic republic.

He expressed his belief that a positive journey has begun on the foundation of these achievements and hopes that this day will inspire all institutions of people’s representatives, political parties, and state bodies to uphold constitutional norms and values.
