Six parliamentary committees convene for key discussions in Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: Six committees of the Federal Parliament are set to meet today at Singha Durbar to deliberate on various legislative and policy matters, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The Finance Committee will convene at 11:00 am to discuss the bill to amend and unify the customs law, engaging with members of the House of Representatives who have proposed amendments.

Simultaneously, the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will hold a clause-wise discussion on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2024, which outlines provisions for the formation, operation, and service conditions of the Federal Civil Service.

At 11:30 am, the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee will deliberate on the issues faced by Swargadwari Guthi farmers in consultation with the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation and the Guthi Sansthan.

The Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee, meeting at 11:00 am, will engage experts to review the Shaheed Dashrath Chand Health Sciences University Bill, 2023.

At 12:30 pm, the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee will convene, focusing on Nepal’s economic transition and governance issues.

Additionally, the Subcommittee on Nepal’s Upgrading from Least Developed Country (LDC) to Developing Country Study Report, 2024, will present its findings for discussion. Meanwhile, the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee will review suggestions regarding policy issues related to national parks.
