Shankharapur bus accident: 27 injured discharged, driver in custody



KATHMANDU: Twenty-seven of the 43 people injured in the bus accident at Kattike, Shankharapur Municipality-5, have been discharged from the hospital, police confirmed on Thursday.

The accident occurred on Wednesday when a bus (Ba 2 Kha 7958) carrying students from Satyasai Academy fell 20 feet off the road while returning from a picnic in Nagarkot, according to the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Three people lost their lives in the incident.

The victims have been identified as 11-year-old Krishal Puri from Urlabari Municipality-7, 23-year-old Suresh Tamang from Balefi Rural Municipality-7 in Sindhupalchowk, and 14-year-old Sushank Dotel from Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-3, Sindhupalchowk.

Puri died while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj, Tamang at Nepal Medical College, and Sushank at Shankharapur Hospital.

Among the remaining injured, two are receiving treatment at KMC Hospital, nine at Nepal Medical College, one at Mediciti, two at TUTH, one at Helping Hands in Chabahil, and one at People’s Life Care Hospital.

The bus driver has been taken into police custody as the investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
