ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Police have arrested 18 workers in a truck at the Al-Shakla sniper outlet in Al Ain city, including a number of women, in an attempt to enter the country illegally.

A statement issued by Abu Dhabi Police said that 18 people — stuffed in a hollow truck bed — were caught trying to clandestinely enter the UAE through the Buraimi-Al Ain border checkpoint.

“The Abu Dhabi Police had received a tip-off about an attempted infiltration at the checkpoint and incoordination, with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi the infiltrators were arrested,” the police said.

The Abu Dhabi Police had received security information in the presence of an attempted infiltration at the port and was coordinated with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Customs to seize the infiltrators.

Abu Dhabi Police praised the cooperation of the strategic partners and their fruitful efforts, which contributed to the seizure. And aggression, and that the state is cracking down.

She pointed out that infiltration across borders is one of the most dangerous operations that have negative effects on the security of society, especially in light of the enjoyment of the economic and development of the United Arab Emirates, which makes it a target for a segment that does not lose sight of the organs and laws of the State tampered with.
