KATHMANDU: The first meeting of the winter session of the Federal Parliament commenced on Friday afternoon.

As soon as Speaker Devraj Ghimire read the letter from the President’s Office and moved on to the agenda, lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) stood up in protest.

The RSP protested the government’s decision to register a notice of rejection concerning six ordinances introduced earlier.

Following the protest, Speaker Ghimire urged the RSVP lawmakers to sit down, explaining that time had been allotted for all party leaders to speak.

Despite his repeated requests for them to take their seats, the RSVP lawmakers refused to comply.

Earlier on Friday, RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane, along with other lawmakers, met with Speaker Ghimire to request the removal of suspended MP Lamichhane from their positions.

Speaker Ghimire responded that he would review the matter and then sent them away.
