Westerly winds bring cloudy skies and fog to Nepal

KATHMANDU: A westerly wind is currently influencing the weather in Nepal, with conditions expected to be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported fog in several areas of the Tarai region.

Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane stated that the weather in the Kathmandu Valley will likely remain partly cloudy until the afternoon today.

The minimum temperature in the Valley this morning was 8.5°C, with the maximum temperature expected to range between 18 to 20°C.

The Department forecasts that the weather will be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, with fair conditions elsewhere, throughout the afternoon.

There is a chance of intermittent light rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of the Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Additionally, light snowfall is possible in some areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions of the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, with fair weather elsewhere.

The Department also indicated the possibility of scattered light rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as light snowfall in a few areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces over the next 24 hours.

As fog is expected to occur in many areas of the Tarai on Thursday morning, the Department has advised the public to remain alert, as it may affect daily life, agriculture, health, transport, and aviation.
