KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is resting at his official residence in Baluwatar after falling ill with a throat problem, doctors have confirmed.

The Prime Minister, who attended a late-night party on Tuesday after a secretariat meeting of the CPN-UML, developed a hoarse voice, prompting medical advice to rest.

Despite resting on Wednesday, his condition did not improve, leading to the cancellation of all his official engagements for Thursday.

Among the canceled programs is the Siddhababa Tunnel Road Breakthrough event on the Butwal-Palpa road section, where Oli was scheduled to participate. The Prime Minister also missed the 24th anniversary celebration of the Armed Police Force (APF) on Wednesday.

In his absence, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was called to Kathmandu to serve as the chief guest for the APF event.

Sources close to Baluwatar revealed that Oli started experiencing discomfort on Tuesday night after attending a party following a crucial UML meeting.

The meeting reportedly resolved to continue collaborating with former vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam.

The Prime Minister’s office has not provided a timeline for his recovery or his return to official duties.
