KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the country is currently experiencing the influence of westerly winds, with partial effects from a westerly low-pressure system in the Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the hilly regions of the Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are experiencing partial cloud cover, while the remaining areas are mainly clear. Some areas of the Terai are witnessing fog.

This afternoon, the hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces will have partial to generally cloudy weather, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear.

There is a possibility of light snowfall in a few places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear in the remaining areas, with partial to generally cloudy weather in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Light snowfall is likely in a few places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of these provinces.

In the morning, fog and mist are expected to affect many areas of the Terai and the valleys, which could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health, transportation, and air travel.

The department has advised the public to take necessary precautions.
