Nepali Foreign Minister holds talks with Israeli counterpart on Bipin Joshi’s release

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a phone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Tuesday evening, seeking assistance for the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who is being held by the Hamas militant group.

The call follows reports that Hamas plans to release some hostages. Minister Rana urged the Israeli government, through Foreign Minister Saar, to prioritize efforts for Bipin’s safe release.

During the conversation, Minister Rana expressed gratitude for Israel’s ongoing efforts to assist the hostages and made a special appeal for focused intervention regarding Bipin. Minister Saar assured her that Israel is making every possible effort for his release and acknowledged her earlier discussions with Qatari officials on the matter.

Qatar, as a key mediator in negotiations with Hamas, plays a significant role, according to Saar. Earlier in the day, Minister Rana had spoken with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, reiterating the same appeal.

Nepal continues its diplomatic efforts for Bipin’s release, engaging with the United Nations, international forums, and regional mediators, including Egypt and Qatar. Minister Rana emphasized Nepal’s commitment to securing his safe return.
