Westerly low-pressure system affecting country’s weather

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the country is currently experiencing the partial effects of a westerly low-pressure system.

According to the Division, the weather is partly cloudy to generally cloudy in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy across the country.

Light rain is likely in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Additionally, light snowfall is expected in many areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

Tonight, the weather will be generally cloudy in the hilly regions of the country, including Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to mostly clear.

Scattered to light rain is possible in a few areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and in isolated places in other regions.

Light snowfall may occur in some high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and in a few other high-altitude areas.

The weather patterns may impact daily life, health, transportation, tourism, and air travel. The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions.
