National Labor and Employment Conference in Kathmandu on February 28 and March 1



KATHMANDU: The fifth edition of the National Labor and Employment Conference is set to take place on February 28 and March 1 in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security announced during a press conference held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday that the conference aims to give shape to the concept of a decade of internal employment promotion.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson and National Program Director, Danduraj Ghimire, the conference is being organized to support the strategic action plan for boosting production and productivity, analyze the challenges in foreign employment, and gather recommendations for future policy and legal reforms.

Around 500 participants, including representatives from all three levels of government, the private sector, trade unions, labor and employment-related professionals, researchers, and experts, are expected to attend.

The ministry stated that the conference would provide an opportunity for intensive discussions on various interrelated topics, involving workers, employers, government representatives, experts, researchers, and policymakers in the field of labor and employment.
