KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his best wishes to the Gurung community and all Nepalis celebrating Tamu Lhosar, the main festival of the Gurung people.
Taking to social media, Prime Minister Oli shared a message of cultural pride and unity.
“When I think of Tamu Lhosar, I am reminded of Gurung women wearing headscarves, velvet choli, ghalek, patuki, and chhitko gunyu and dancing Ghatu, Sorathi, and Kauda, and men wearing bhangro over their bhoto and patuki with kashk tied around their backs,” he wrote on Facebook.
The Prime Minister highlighted Nepal’s cultural diversity, emphasizing that festivals like Tamu Lhosar showcase the nation’s rich traditions and heritage. He called for preserving and celebrating such cultural expressions to strengthen unity and pride among all Nepalis.
Tamu Lhosar marks the beginning of a new year for the Gurung community.
It is celebrated with great enthusiasm through traditional dances, rituals, and communal gatherings. On this occasion, families and communities come together to exchange greetings, perform cultural dances, and prepare festive delicacies.
