KATHMANDU: The government has reported a substantial increase in foreign aid commitments from development partners in the current fiscal year 2024-25.
By December end, new foreign aid commitments have reached Rs 202.4 billion, marking a 237 percent rise compared to the Rs 59.98 billion pledged during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
According to Mahesh Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, both foreign grants and loans have experienced notable growth. Foreign grant commitments have surged by 153 percent, while foreign loan commitments have increased by 280 percent.
In terms of actual disbursements, the government has received Rs. 44.8 billion so far this fiscal year, comprising Rs 6.75 billion in foreign grants and Rs 37.33 billion in foreign loans.
This represents a 30.3 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The funds have been allocated to various development and construction projects across the country.
