KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to take action against doctors who are absent during office hours.
Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has instructed officials to respond to complaints received through Hello Health 1115, the ministry’s complaint hearing unit.
He also directed them to enforce mandatory electronic attendance for doctors and health workers.
Following this, the ministry sent a letter to all hospitals under its authority, reminding them that doctors must be present during office hours and use a logbook if they need to leave.
The letter, issued by the Quality Standard and Regulation Section, also stressed the importance of electronic attendance tracking.
Ministry spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said this action was prompted by repeated complaints.
He warned that anyone found absent without permission during monitoring would face consequences.
The ministry encourages the public to register complaints with Hello Health 1115 to help improve services.
