KMC honours ten personalities



KATHMANDU:  Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) honored ten distinguished personalities with a cash prize of Rs. 150,000 each on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.

The award ceremony, held on Saturday, was attended by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Mayor Balendra Shah, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, and other dignitaries. Among those honored were artist Kiran Manandhar and several other notable figures.

From the folk music sector, Kumar Basnet was recognized; from the field of visual arts, Kiran Manandhar; from the health sector, Dr. Arun Sayami; and from politics and social work, former KMC Chief P.L. Singh.

Additionally, the award in performing arts and film was presented to Narendra Kansakar, and from literature, Malla K. Sundar received recognition.

In sports, taekwondo athlete Sangina Baidya, volleyball player Pratibha Mali, and cricketer Gyanendra Malla were also honored.

Each awardee was presented with a cash prize of Rs. 150,000.

During the program, all 32 wards of KMC showcased their cultural displays, while the city police performed drills.

Various urban service tools and equipment, such as fire engines, ambulances, road sweepers, and waste collection vehicles, were exhibited.

Additionally, an exhibition featuring traditional food, beverages, and products from the ‘One Ward, One Model Product’ initiative began at Tundikhel from 10 a.m.

Later in the day, a musical program will feature performances by artists including Babu Krishna Pariyar, Indrakala Rai, Urgen Dong, Sugam Pokharel & The Bajagaja Band, Kehar Limbu & Joy Band, Mahesh Kafle, Asmita Adhikari, Kumar Sagar, Deep Shrestha, Om Bikram Bista, James Pradhan, Sujil Karmacharya, Sanjay Shrestha, Yogeshwar Amatya, Rachana Rimal, Sushant Ghimire, Sandeep Bista, Chakra Bam, and others.
