Nepali Congress candidate Dhan Singh Kuwar wins in Duhu-5, Darchula

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress candidate Dhan Singh Kuwar has won the by-election for ward chairperson in Duhu Rural Municipality-5, Darchula. Kuwar secured 376 votes to claim victory.

According to the Election Office, CPN-UML’s candidate Mansingh Badal received 358 votes, while CPN-Maoist Center’s Bir Singh Karki garnered 98 votes. Independent candidate Lal Singh Kuwar managed 25 votes.

Out of the total 877 votes cast, 20 were declared invalid.

The ward was previously won by the Maoist Center in the 2022 local elections.
