KATHMANDU: Several Rohingya families have been resettled in different areas of Saptari District in Madhesh Province, with support from leaders of the CPN-UML.

As per reports, five Rohingya families have been settled in Ward No. 5 of Jajar area in Bode Barsain Municipality, while three families are now residing in Baluwa area of Kancharoop Municipality.

The resettlement is being facilitated by local UML leaders, including Akhter Miya and Suman Raj Pyakhurel.

Additionally, some Rohingya families who had visited Nepal were provided shelter in Dakneshwori Municipality, located in Saptari District.

These families were assisted by CPN-UML district leader Tarakant Chaudhary and Mayor Ram Lakhan Mallah, who are also actively involved in the resettlement initiative.

There are indications that more Rohingya families are expected to be accommodated in the area in the coming months.

Pyakhurel, a key figure behind this effort, has leveraged his political influence to ensure the smooth settlement of the Rohingya families.

Reports suggest that he has managed to effect changes in local administration, including the posting of his known Chief Development Officer at the Saptari District level, to help facilitate the process.
