KATHMANDU: Beginning today (November 24), a fee of Rs 200 per person will be charged for climbing the Dharahara, which had previously been accessible for free as part of a trial period.

The Ministry of Urban Development has specified that visitors from SAARC countries will incur a charge of Rs 500 per person, while those from non-SAARC nations will pay Rs 1,000 each, as per the Special Infrastructure Operation and Management Development Committee Order, 2081.

This new fee structure received approval from the Council of Ministers during their meeting last Thursday.

Domestic citizens, students, senior citizens, children, and individuals with disabilities will benefit from a 50 percent discount on the climbing fee.

Furthermore, parking fees have been established for the tower: Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 per hour for two-wheelers.

The Ministry has also outlined advertising fees for the Dharahara pillar, charging Rs 5,000 per hour for ads of national significance (excluding commercial ads), Rs 5,000 per hour for commercial video shoots on-site, and Rs 1,000 per hour for photography.
