KATHMANDU Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that the contribution made by Mahaguru Falgunanda of the followers of the Kirant faith to cultural identity and social reforms are worth emulation by all the religions and sects.

In a message of best wishes given on the occasion of the Falgunanda Jayanti (the birth anniversary of Mahaguru Falgunanda), 2081 today, Vice President Yadav viewed that the ‘Satya Dharma Muchulka’ or the Charter of Edicts on True Religion drafted by the Mahaguru is still equally relevant at present.

“Important social and cultural aspects of social reform like no money (meaning dowry) should be accepted while marrying off one’s daughter, no animal should be offered in sacrifice while worshipping the gods, one should abstain from alcohol and meat and the death rituals should be concluded in three days, among others, are incorporated in the Muchulka,” the Vice President stated in his message.

According to him, the high ideals, pious thinking, good intention and the path of righteousness adopted by Mahaguru Falgunanda are the important aspects that guide the entire Nepali society.

Emphasizing on taking the Falgunanda Jayanti as an opportunity to preserve the glorious history and tradition of the Kirant community, Vice President Yadav expressed the belief that the Falgunanda Jayanti which is significant in terms of social, cultural and religious point of view will help in enhancing the national unity, identity and social consciousness.

He wished that may the birth anniversary of the national luminary Falgunanda give all the Nepali the motivation to forge ahead in the greater campaign of the nation’s development by upholding integrity, goodwill, tolerance and unity in the country and society.
