Suresh Prasad Acharya recommended as Chief Commissioner for National Information Commission



KATHMANDU: Dr Suresh Prasad Acharya, former chair of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, has been recommended for the role of chief commissioner of the National Information Commission. The recommendation was made by a committee meeting chaired by Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Monday.

Additionally, Speaker Ghimire’s press adviser, Shekhar Adhikari, announced that the committee recommended Gagan Bista, former president of Press Chautari Nepal, and Durga Bhandari, former secretary, as information commissioners.

The process of recommending the chief information commissioner and commissioners is carried out by a three-member committee, comprising the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and the chair of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.

A total of 15 candidates applied for the position of Chief Commissioner, while 29 individuals applied for Commissioner.
