Govt’s 100-day period satisfactory: Ruling coalition

The ruling parties have issued a joint statement following a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Friday.

The statement addresses the government’s first 100 days, current issues, and upcoming plans.

The current government operates with the support and participation of various parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Janata amajwadi Party (JSP), Janamat, JSP Nepal, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party, based on a seven-point agreement between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

Ruling coalition voices objection to “influence” in Rabi Lamichhane investigation

The seven ruling parties have raised serious objections to the recent protests organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) regarding the arrest of RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, the coalition—including the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—expressed concerns about attempts to sway the ongoing investigation into Lamichhane’s case.

The parties emphasized that since an investigation is underway based on the unanimous report from the Parliamentary Special Committee of Inquiry into the Misappropriation of Cooperative Society Savings, 2081, it is crucial that no outside influences disrupt this process.

Rabi too should face punishment if found guilty: PM Oli

Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli stated that if Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is found guilty in the cooperative fraud case, he should be prepared to face the same consequences as others involved.

PM Oli made these comments during a meeting of the seven ruling political parties at his official residence in Baluwatar on Friday evening.

According to a leader, who attended the meeting, the Prime Minister did not specifically name Lamichhane but emphasized that over 575 individuals are currently imprisoned in connection with the fraud case.

During the briefing on the cooperative fraud situation, PM Oli noted that more than 600 people have been prosecuted, with 575 already serving sentences.

NC President Deuba praises gov’t’s 100-day performance

Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress (NC) and former Prime Minister, has voiced his approval of the government’s achievements during its first 100 days.

Deuba emphasized that there are no reasons for dissatisfaction with the work done by the government under the leadership of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

In a conversation with News Agency Nepal, he remarked that the government has made effective use of its initial “honeymoon period.”

He addressed misunderstandings regarding the government’s disaster management efforts, highlighting the deployment of security personnel for relief and rescue missions.

PM Oli urges collective efforts to combat dengue

Prime Minister KP Oli has called upon all segments of society to mobilize efforts against dengue.

In a video message issued today, he underscored the necessity of collaborative action as dengue continues to impact various districts across the nation.

The Prime Minister urged the active involvement of relevant agencies, civil servants, security personnel, educational institutions, social activists, and community members in a nationwide ‘Search and Destroy’ campaign, scheduled for every Friday at 10:00 a.m.

After Pokhara, RSP’s movement shifts to Maitighar

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched its movement in Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu, following the arrest of party Chairman and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

The protest against his arrest commenced with a demonstration centered in Maitighar in Kathmandu.

In response to Rabi’s arrest, RSP leaders and activists who had been protesting in Pokhara have now joined the demonstrations in Kathmandu.

NEPSE weekly wrap: 4.31% drop with Rs 29.95 billion turnover

NEPSE ended the week with a 4.31 percent decline and a turnover of Rs 29.95 billion.

The NEPSE Index closed at 2,627.14, down 118.22 points (4.31%). Last week, it finished at 2,745.36, marking a 2.89% increase from the prior week.

During this week, the index peaked at 2,748.78 and dropped to a low of 2,614.65, resulting in a volatility of 134.13 points, compared to a volatility of 113.15 points the week before.

The highest intraday increase was 57.99 points on Monday, with a turnover of Rs 5.90 billion, while the total turnover for the week reached Rs 29.95 billion.

Finance Minister Poudel urges investors to invest in Nepal with confidence

Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel has urged international investors to invest in Nepal’s information technology (IT) sector with confidence adding that there are immense potential for investment and high returns in this sector.

At an interaction program organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and Industries today, Minister Poudel urged the investors to invest in Nepal’s physical infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, energy and other sectors, and take benefits from the investment.

DPM Poudel held talks with MCC Chief Executive Officer

Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel has held a meeting with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Alice P. Albright in Washington DC, USA.

The Embassy of Nepal in Washington DC stated that discussions were held regarding the MCC projects in Nepal being implemented under the MCC Compact Agreement since last year and the cross-border transmission line.

Likewise, the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Bo Li, held a meeting with Minister Poudel on Thursday.

34 industries face power cuts amid NEA line disputes

Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has once again disconnected power to 34 industries due to ongoing disputes concerning the usage of dedicated and trunk lines.

Industrialists argue that they cannot settle their outstanding bills, claiming that although the NEA issued these bills, it has not provided evidence of electricity usage.

During a recent board meeting, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka intervened, directing that the electricity supply to these industries should not be cut off immediately.

Land Commission to be formed: Minister Adhikari

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Minister Balram Adhikari has said that a land commission will be formed soon.

While inaugurating the office building of District Land Office in Khandbari today, the minister promised to solve the problem of landless and squatters within two years.

He said that the Land Commission will be formed within the month. “We will form land commissions in all districts within the month”, he said.
