NEW DELHI:  Indian airlines have been receiving a series of bomb threats, impacting major carriers like Indigo and Vistara.

These threats have intensified in recent days, with both airlines receiving bomb warnings on 10 separate flights on Tuesday alone.

In recent days, numerous calls and emails have been made targeting Indian airlines, issuing threats to blow up flights, especially international routes.

Indigo Airlines reported threats to 10 of its flights, including Delhi-Jeddah, Istanbul-Delhi, Delhi-Dammam, and Bengaluru-Jeddah, among others. The total number of bomb threats targeting Indigo flights this week has surpassed 100, many of which have been hoax calls.

Similarly, Vistara Airlines also received security warnings via social media, leading to increased checks and inspections. Flights and airports have been subjected to tight security measures in response.

A Vistara spokesperson confirmed that the company is coordinating with security officials to ensure thorough safety inspections. Indigo issued a statement affirming its commitment to the safety of passengers and crew.

Meanwhile, the bomb threat on a Vistara flight that landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Tuesday highlights the spillover effect of these threats.

The plane, which arrived from Delhi, was evacuated, and security personnel, including a bomb disposal squad, inspected the aircraft following a WhatsApp message that warned of a bomb on board.
