Demonstrators clash with police in Bharatpur; defy prohibitory orders

CHITWAN: Supporters of television presenter Rabi Lamichhane have demonstrated at different places of Bharatpur demanding justice to Lamichhane.

They obstructed the East-West Highway by burning tires and vandalized some vehicles, police have said.

Meanwhile, demonstrators clashed with the police at Doorsanchar Road and Chaubiskothi areas. Police resorted to firing several shells of tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

Likewise, demonstrators also took out a motorcycle rally in different parts of Bharatpur defying the prohibitory orders imposed by the local administration.

Security in the area has been beefed up to avert any untoward incidence.
