KATHMANDU: A total of 246 lives have been lost due to natural disasters such as landslides and flooding, following incessant rainfall from September 26-28 across the country.
According to details released by Nepal Police today, 178 individuals sustained injuries, while 18 are still unaccounted for.
Home Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari reported that 1,774 people were rescued from affected areas.
The disaster has severely impacted human lives and property, particularly in Bagmati Province, where 139 fatalities were recorded.
Relief funds have been provided to 176 dependent families in accordance with the ‘Disaster Victim Rescue and Relief Guidelines, 2077.’
Efforts are ongoing to distribute financial assistance and relief materials to families affected by the disaster, as noted by Tiwari.
A team led by the Home Minister has been directed to expedite relief distribution and reconstruction efforts to ensure effective emergency support, rehabilitation, and recovery.
The ministry is also working on restoring vehicular movement by implementing alternative arrangements and removing obstacles along various highways.
