KATHMANDU: The Airline Operators Association of Nepal has announced that it will not charge maximum fares for air tickets until the road network is fully operational.

The decision was made during a meeting held today, where it was agreed that maximum price tickets would not be sold until travel conditions improve.

“In light of the current crisis and with the welfare of the general public in mind, the Association has decided to maintain the ‘Upper Fair’ ticket rates issued on Bhadra 13 until the road network is back to normal,” stated Association President Manoj Karki.

This decision follows numerous complaints from citizens regarding high airfares. In response, the union’s meeting on Sunday resolved to offer discounted tickets for passengers on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

President Karki emphasized that the association is committed to providing air tickets at the lowest possible rates to facilitate travel for those affected by the ongoing disaster.

Since Thursday, continuous rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across various regions, severely disrupting the road network and leading to an increase in air travel demand.

The Tribhuvan International Airport office reported a surge in flight activity over the weekend, particularly on Sunday and Monday, as more passengers seek alternative travel options.
