Adverse weather condition disrupts air travel

KATHMANDU: Adverse weather conditions have impacted air travel in Kathmandu.

Domestic flights from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) are experiencing disruptions due to poor visibility and inclement weather.

While visual flight rules (VFR) flights are currently operational at TIA, services to destinations such as Biratnagar and Simara have been affected.

According to TIA, two flights were diverted as a result of deteriorating weather conditions along their routes.

A Yeti Airlines flight en route from Kathmandu to Simara had to return after reaching the vicinity of Simara without landing, while another Yeti Airlines flight headed to Biratnagar turned back to Kathmandu midway due to bad weather.

Airlines have also announced that there will be no mountain flights today as a result of the adverse conditions.

However, international flights continue to operate normally.

Meanwhile, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the monsoon low-pressure line is situated south of its usual position, affecting the entire country.
