Youth rally demanding climate justice

LALITPUR: A group of youth has held a People’s Climate March 2024 rally in Jawalakel, Lalitpur, demanding climate justice. Participants in the rally carried banners and placards with various slogans.

They argued that developed countries are primarily responsible for increasing pollution through mineral extraction, petroleum, and industrial emissions, and called for these countries to provide compensation to nations like Nepal that are affected by this pollution.

The participants also protested against the notion that developed nations should offer financial support to low greenhouse gas-emitting countries like Nepal in the form of loans.

This rally in Nepal was organized in the context of the “Global Week of Action in South Asia.”
