Agriculture Ministry to increase investment in technology, infrastructures, human resources

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has shared that the ministry would gradually increase investment to develop agro technology, infrastructures and human resources.

At a programme organized today on the occasion of 13th anniversary of Balkhu Agriculture and Vegetable Market, Agriculture Minister Adhikari pointed out the need of increasing agro production and productivity to reduce its import.

He further said he was committed to resolve problems surfaced in agro sector. Stressing the need to increase agro production to replace import, the Agriculture Minister expressed determination to take possible efforts to protect interest of farmers.

He urged the farmers not to use such pesticides harmful to human health. Similarly, Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, Suman Shrestha, said real farmers are not getting appropriate price of their agro-products due to middlemen.

Executive Director of Balkhu Agriculture and Vegetable Market, Ram Krishna Kunwar, stressed that grants should be provided to farmers in order to increase agro products as development of agriculture sector would help in economic prosperity.
