Bodies of couple retrieved from landslide debris

JAJARKOT: Bodies of a couple who went missing in a landslide at Dhuma of Barekot rural municipality-6 in Jajarkot have been retrieved.

Man Bahadur Chalauane, 47, and Prem Kumari Chalaune, 38, were buried by the landslide along with their home last night.

Barekot Rural Municipality Chair Bir Bahadur Giri confirmed the retrieval of the bodies.

Samajhana Chalaune, 13, the daughter of the couple, who was injured in the incident has been sent to Surkhet Province Hospital for treatment.

The bodies have been kept at the local Basic Hospital for completing legal procedures, according to Jajarkot’s Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Purushottam Pandey.

Prem Kumari was the ward member for the Barekot-6 while Man Bahadur was the Barekot village committee member from the CPN (Maoist Centre).
