Speaker certifies Transitional Justice Bill



KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has certified the Bill related to Transitional Justice.

The Bill, formally known as the Commission of Investigation on the Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS, was certified today, according to Shekhar Adhikari, the Speaker’s press expert.

The Bill had already been approved by both houses of the Federal Parliament.

The House of Representatives passed it on August 14, and it was subsequently endorsed by the National Assembly on August 22.

The next step is for the Bill to be sent to the President for authentication, after which it will be legally validated and implemented.
