POKHARA: Chairman of Maoist Centre and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stated that the party’s priority should be on building the party organization and developing ideas, rather than focusing solely on the government.

Speaking at a program in Pokhara on Monday, Prachanda urged party leaders and workers to engage with the people and cultivate new ideas.

“We are not going to reduce the emphasis on the government; others may come looking for us. Our task is to develop the party and its ideas,” Prachanda stated.

He affirmed that the Maoist Centre remains a significant force in the country and stressed the importance of protecting national independence and current achievements.

“There is a conspiracy to reverse the achievements of change. We must all be vigilant. If necessary, we should preserve these changes even if it means re-engaging in struggle,” Prachanda warned.

Prachanda also noted that with the passing of the Bill on the Investigation, Truth, and Reconciliation Commission of Disappeared Persons, the 12-point agreement is nearing its end, signaling a transition to a new phase for the country.

He called for party unity and preparation for the socialist revolution.

“The objective basis for the socialist revolution has been prepared. The first condition for that is unity within the party,” he concluded.
