LALITPUR: Since early this morning, devotees have been flocking to the Krishna Temple in Patan, Lalitpur, to worship Lord Krishna on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

Devotees of the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion are celebrating ‘Sri Krishna Janmashtami’—the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna—with great reverence and devotion across the country today.

Lord Krishna, who is revered as the pioneer of Knowledge Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga, was born at midnight on Bhadrakrishna Ashtami during the Dwapar era.

Therefore, the day is known as ‘Krishna Janmashtami,’ and the night is referred to as ‘Mohratri.’

On this day, worship is conducted in Krishna temples nationwide, accompanied by the recitation of hymns and scriptures. Devotees traditionally stay awake throughout the night in observance.

Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born to protect humanity from injustice, tyranny, and demonic forces.

Throughout his life, he inspired people to perform good deeds and uphold truth.

The ‘Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta,’ considered a sacred text in Hinduism, is believed to be translated into most languages globally.

Lines have been set up on the south and north sides of the temple to manage the large number of devotees.

Nepal Scouts volunteers and Lalitpur Metropolitan Police personnel have been deployed to help organize and oversee the queues.
