Rs 1 million worth of sheep killed in lightning strike

MYAGDI: Approximately Rs 1 million worth of sheep were killed after being struck by lightning at Khayar of Annapurna rural municipality-5 in Myagdi district.

The incident took place on Friday night when a flock of sheep took shelter there, said ward member Rajesh Tilija Pun. Sheep farmers suffered loss as none of these sheep was insured. A sheep costs Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 in the market.

A team from the Ghar police beat has been sent to the incident area to take stock of the incident, said the police. The farmers victimized by the incident have been demanding compensation and sheep insurance.
