Indian tourists and Nepali guide rescued after 12-hour ordeal in Nagarkot forest

KATHMANDU: Three Indian nationals and their Nepali guide, who had been missing in the Nagarkot forest of Bhaktapur, were rescued safely after a 12-hour search.

The individuals, identified as Nitin Tiwari, Rashmi Tiwari, Tanish Tiwari, and their Nepali guide, Hari Prasad Kharel, went missing after losing their way from the Muhan Pokhari Rani Jhula area.

According to Changunarayan Municipality Mayor Jivan Khatri, the group had inadvertently ventured into the forest while trying to find their way to the Rani Jhula area.

The disappearance prompted Mayor Khatri to appeal for public assistance on social media.

A coordinated rescue operation was swiftly launched, involving the Armed Police Force, local representatives, and residents.

The search efforts led to the group’s location in the Halhale Khowpa (Kholchi) area.

The rescued individuals were safely handed over to the Police Department at Kharipati, as confirmed by Gokarna Puri, Mayor Khatri’s personal secretary.
