KATHMANDU: A massive flood, likely triggered by rapid snowmelt, has caused extensive damage to Thame Village in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5, Solukhumbu District, Nepal, on Friday.

The flood has inundated more than a dozen houses, including schools and lodges.

According to Chief District Officer Devi Pandey Khatri, personnel from the Nepal Police and Nepal Army have been deployed to the area for search and rescue operations.

Preliminary reports indicate that five people stranded in the river have been rescued, while one individual remains missing.
