Helicopter crashes in Nuwakot; five dead

KATHMANDU: A helicopter belonging to Air Dynasty crashed in Suryachaur, Shivpuri Rural Municipality Ward Number 7, in Nepal’s Nuwakot district on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said that all five people aboard the ill-fated helicopter flown by pilot Arun Malla have died in the crash.

The District Police Office Nuwakot confirmed the accident, with Chief SP Shantiraj Koirala reporting that the helicopter was found burning at the crash site.

Koirala informed Khabarhub that the helicopter collided with a hill before crashing.

The helicopter departed from Kathmandu at 1:54 PM. Three minutes after takeoff, it lost contact, TIA sources said.

It has been reported that the helicopter en route to Syafrubesi in Rasuwa lost contact after 2 p.m.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport Tower, the helicopter maintained communication until 2 p.m., after which contact was lost.
