PM Oli returns to Singha Durbar after three years (Photos)

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli assumed office on Monday, taking up the executive role for the third time.

Following a swearing-in ceremony at the President’s residence, Oli paid tribute to martyrs and then proceeded to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to assume his duties.

Prime Minister Oli was greeted warmly by the staff upon his arrival.

Before taking office, Oli visited the Martyrs’ Memorial in Lainchaur, where he laid wreaths at the statues of the martyrs.

He also visited the party’s central office in Chyasal to pay homage to the late leaders of the party.

Oli’s return to the premiership follows the ousting of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ after he failed to secure a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on July 12.

With support from the Nepali Congress and other parties, Oli was subsequently appointed Prime Minister.
