KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel, upon assuming office, announced to end the long waiting lines at the public hospitals within a month of his appointment.
On Monday, after taking office at the ministry, Minister Paudel approved the strategy as his initial move to combat cancer nationwide.
Paudel, elected from Kathmandu-5, was appointed Health and Population Minister by Prime Minister KP Oli today.
Acknowledging that he might not have extensive knowledge about the political and theoretical aspects of the health sector, Paudel emphasized collaboration with current, former, and expert officials to formulate immediate and long-term plans.
He pledged to present an outline within a week, detailing actions for the short term and strategies for the long term.
Minister Paudel promised to improve the situation within a month, ensuring that patients would no longer need to wait in line at government hospitals.
He stressed his commitment to action over words.
“We will ensure that within a month, there will be no need to wait in line at government hospitals under the federal government,” he stated, assuring, “We will advance organized health services. While we may not be able to achieve large-scale changes immediately, we will implement smaller improvements progressively.”
