Nepal must move forward with new thinking and leadership: Minister Ghising

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and patron of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, Kulman Ghising, has said that the country must move forward with new thinking, new leadership and a new direction.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony organized by the Ujyalo Nepal Party Nuwakot–Kathmandu Contact Forum in Boudha, Kathmandu, on Sunday, Minister Ghising said political change in the country has become inevitable. He urged citizens to view the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 as a crucial opportunity to reshape Nepal’s future.

Ghising said elections provide an opportunity to choose honest, capable and accountable leadership, stressing the need for citizens to act responsibly and consciously.

“The country cannot move forward with the old mindset anymore,” he said. “Leadership capable of steering the nation in a new direction is necessary, and the people themselves must step forward to provide that leadership.”

Highlighting the organizational expansion of the Ujyalo Nepal Party across the country, Ghising said what began as a small initiative has now grown into a national movement.

“What started as a small spark of light is now spreading across the country and laying the foundation for leadership change,” he said.

Speaking on political unity, Ghising said unity cannot be achieved by eliminating others. He emphasized that emerging political forces must move forward by recognizing and respecting each other’s existence.

“Unity does not mean destroying others,” he said. “True unity lies in moving ahead while respecting everyone’s identity.”

He added that the public wants to see new political forces united, urging them to abandon ego and work together toward a shared national goal.

Ghising also highlighted the party’s identity as being closely connected to people’s daily lives, saying the feeling of “light” when electricity is switched on should symbolize the party’s message reaching every village.

“When a light turns on, brightness follows. That brightness should define Ujyalo Nepal,” he said, instructing party cadres to carry this message to the grassroots.

Minister Ghising said public trust in the Ujyalo Nepal Party is growing and called on supporters to move forward with confidence.

The event was attended by a large number of party leaders, cadres and supporters.
