ILAM: The Fikkal-Nayabazaar road along the Fikkal-Jogmai-Nayabazaar-Dudhang road section of Ilam has been blacktopped.

The blacktopping of the 20-km-long road from Barbote, Fikkal of Suryodaya Municipality-9 to Nayabazar of Maijogmai Rural Municipality-1 has been completed.

The dilapidated road has been blacktopped with the investment of the Koshi province government.

Engineer at the Infrastructure Development Office, Bhadrapur, Jhapa, Birendra Lama said the blacktopping of the road was completed at a cost of Rs 538.938 million.

As informed, 800 meters of the road has been paved in the difficult area. DBST technology has been used in blacktopping of the road.

Besides, the task of kilometer post and safety bar has also been done. An agreement was signed with the contractor for this purpose.

Although it was supposed to be completed in 2079 BS, the deadline was extended once it was not completed.

Dilliram Khanal, a representative of the contractor company, said that although the work started in 2076 BS the deadline was extended with delay in construction work due to the massive flood in 2077 BS.

With the blacktopping of the road, it has now become easier for the general public to travel daily. Residents of Gorkhe of Suryodaya Municipality and Jogmai, Nayabazar and Pyang of Maijogmai Rural Municipality have benefited from the blacktopping of the road.
